Week 2 – Resting is the Best Medicine

Starting my 2nd week of recovery, I thought I was getting a lot better yesterday. My swelling had gone down and my wound was barely hurting so I walked around a lot.

I’m feeling the effects of that today. This morning, I felt a little bruising around my incision on the left side and thought I could push through it by making myself some breakfast – 3 eggs and sausage.  When I was done, I had to sit down because I knew that I overdid it because I was hurting.

I also took a shower and washed my hair today, which felt really great. However, now that it’s close to 9:30pm, I’m hobbling around, my lower abs are numb again and I have my swelly belly.

Today’s lesson: Rest even when you’re feeling okay.
